Real-time teleoperation for robot control.

Each pilot wears a Virtual Reality (VR) headset and a small number of VR trackers that let them control the robot in real time. The robot closely replicates the pilot's movements, effectively becoming their avatar in the arena. This technique, known as teleoperation, has been developed and refined by our team over several years of research and development on advanced projects.

Compete as One.

Our system supports real-time fast, whole-body motion control, so operators can move, punch, and recover balance as naturally as if they were in the ring themselves.

The VR headset also runs our immersive eXtended Reality (XR) avatar interface, which lets the operator see a digital twin of the robot and its surrounding environment. This gives them a clear, intuitive view of how their body movements translate into robot actions and how the robot is positioned in the environment. The XR digital twin also provides depth and spatial cues, making it easier to judge distance, timing, and angles during exchanges in the arena.

Built on proven robotics research.

Avatars One is a spin-out of the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC) that exploits expertise built over more than two decades of teleoperation and humanoid robotics work in programs with NASA, DARPA, the U.S. military, and leading robotics companies. Drawing on that experience, we have developed a new, proprietary teleoperation stack that serves as the technical foundation for Avatars One.
With hands-on experience across more than ten humanoid robots from different platforms and manufacturers, our team has built the cross-platform expertise needed to deploy avatar technology broadly, reliably, and at performance levels that feel natural to the operator.
